Eduardo Moreira

Natural from Rio de Janeiro, gave the first steps in theater with pieces in UFMG's Philosophy Department and alongside musical groups such as CURARE and Mambembe, connected to the Foundation of Artistic Education in Belo Horizonte by the end of the 70's and beginning of the 80's.

After a series of plays in the towns' professional theater, founded Grupo Galpão in 1982, where he acts as artistic director.  Participated in all 25 Galpão's pieces in the length of these almost 38 years, having earned awards for his work in plays such as “De olhos fechados” (Best New Actor in 1983), “O Inspetor Geral” (Supporting Actor, 2003), “Um Molière Imaginário” (Best Director, 1998) and nominations to the Molière Award in Rio for  “A rua da amargura” (1995) and SESC/SATED Award for “Álbum de família” (1991), “Um trem chamado desejo” (2000), “Um homem é um homem” (2007) and “Tio Vânia” (2012).

Has directed a number of plays in partnership with different groups such as California's Dell'Arte Company  (EUA), Clowns de Shakespeare, from Natal (RN), Teatro da Cidade and Teatro da Aldeia, from São José dos Campos (SP), group Boca de Cena de Aracaju (SE), and groups from Minas Gerais: Grupontapé, from Uberlândia, Maria Cutia and Malarrumada, and from the Cultural Center Galpão Cine Horto in BH.

As a playwright and dramaturge, wrote various texts, such as “De Tempo Somos”, “Nós” and “Outros”, with Galpão, and made various text adaptations in “Os Gigantes da Montanha” by Luigi Pirandello and “Um Molière Imaginário” (based on “The Hypochondriac”) by Molière.

On the cinema, acted in innumerous productions, some that may stand out are “O Ano que meus Pais Saíram de Férias”, by Cao Hamburger; “Batismo de Sangue” and “O lodo”, by Helvécio Ratton; “Mutum”, by Sandra Kogut; “Moscou”, by Eduardo Coutinho; “Mão na Luva”, by Roberto Bontempo; “Meu pé de Laranja Lima”, by Marcos Bernstein; “Antes que o Mundo Acabe”, by Ana Luiza Azevedo; “Joaquim”, by Marcelo Gomes and “Elon Não Tem Medo da Morte”, by Ricardo Alves Jr.

In addition to acting in short-films such as “O Crime da Atriz”, by Elza Cataldo; “Rua da Amargura” by Rafael Conde; “Para Tchékhov”, by Inês Peixoto and Rodolfo Magalhães; “No Andar de Baixo”, by Leonardo Catapreta, has also directed the short-film  “Tricoteios”. On television, has acted in soap opera chapters, miniseries and special cases, and has also participated on the program “A Paixão Segundo Ouro Preto” and the miniseries “Menina Sem Qualidades”, directed by Felipe Hirsch.

Wrote the books “Grupo Galpão: 25 anos de encontros” ("Grupo Galpão: 25 years of encouters and exchanges") and seven volumes of the group's diaries collection, depicturing the day by day rehearsals for the pieces “A Rua da Amargura”, “O Inspetor Geral”, “Um homem é um Homem”, “Till, a saga de um herói torto”, “Tio Vânia”, “Os Gigantes da Montanha” and the “Encontro com Paulo José” ("Encounter with Paulo José").
