Lydia Del Picchia
From Belo Horizonte, Lydia is an actress, ballerina, singer, choreographer and director. Daughter to musicians, she studied at the São Caetano do Sul Arts Foundation since six years old. She graduated from the extinct Trans-Forma Contemporary Dance Center, place of cultural and interdisciplinary experiences, founded and directed by Marilene Martins on the 70's, in Belo Horizonte.
At fourteen she was Marilene's assistant and right after that, became a professor and member of the Trans-Forma Dance Group. For 10 years, she exerted the roles of ballerina, teacher, artistic assistant and choreographer. Amongst others, she has worked with: Marilene Martins, Dudude Herrmann, Graciela Figueroa, Klauss Vianna, Freddy Romero, Angel Vianna, Rolf Gelewsky, Bettina Belomo, Sônia Mota, José Adolfo Moura, Rufo Herrera, Eid Ribeiro, Carlos Rocha and Paulo Cesar Bicalho. On 1980, studies at the Alvin Aylei American Dance Center, and on 1989, at the Jose Limón dance school, in New York. On 1985 she starts teaching at the Escola de Dança do Palácio das Artes (Arts Palace Dance School) and right after, at the Minas Gerais Dance Company, where she acts as artistic assistant, professor and ballerina, working with Tíndaro Silvano, Luis Arrieta, Rodrigo Pederneiras, Oscar Arraiz, Antônio Carlos Cardoso and Carmen Paternostro, having participated as well in the Dance Group 1º Ato (“1st act”), with a proposition similar to Trans-Forma's, exploring the fusion between music, theater and dance, there remaining for three years also as ballerina, professor and artistic assistant.
Actress in Grupo Galpão since 1994, she has acted in all the repertory pieces, having worked with Gabriel Villela, Cacá Carvalho, Paulo José, Paulo de Moraes, Jurij Alschitz, Márcio Abreu, Babaya, Fernando Muzzi, Ernani Maletta, Luiz Rocha and Francesca Della Monica. Nominated as best supporting actress for the pieces “Partido” (Sated - 1999), “Pequenos Milagres” (Sinparc and Sated - 2008) e "Nós" (APTR RJ – 2016), she received the Best Actress Award for "Eclipse" (Usiminas-Sinparc Award2011) and "Outros" (Copasa-Sinparc Award 2019).
She has directed the pieces "In Memoriam" (2004), "Papo de Anjo" (2005) and "Ensaio de mentira" (2013) in Galpão Cine Horto, "Horas Possíveis" (2012) by Grupo Camaleão de Dança, "De Tempo Somos" (2014) by Grupo Galpão, "Estranha Civilização" (2016) with Cristiano Peixoto, and the scenes "Projeto Poema", with Luiz Rocha and "A Queda", with Jimena Castiglioni (2019) . She was also an Assistent Director for "A Vida é Sonho" (2003) in Galpão Cine Horto, "Um homem é um Homem" (2004), "Os Gigantes da Montanha" (2013), "Outros" (2018) by Grupo Galpão and “Auto da Compadecida” (2019) by Grupo Maria Cutia.
She is Galpão Cine Horto's Pedagical Coordinator since 2004.
